Health and Safety Governance
Health and Safety Organization
To secure specialized expertise in health and safety management and to implement prevention-focused safety management, Coway operates a dedicated unit, the Health and Safety Office. Comprising the Health and Safety Audit Team and the Health and Safety Operation Team, the office proactively mitigates company-wide severe workplace accident risks and executes core functions, including formulating safety strategies and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Through a coordinated collaboration framework, the two teams work closely with the headquarters, business divisions, and production plants to systematically manage on-site health and safety matters.
To align the health and safety management framework with the company-wide compliance system, Coway has reinforced its governance by placing the Health and Safety Office under the Compliance Division. This arrangement enhances Coway's capabilities to address health and safety-related regulations and enables more consistent and effective management of potential risk factors at each business site through a company-wide management framework. Building on this robust organizational and governance framework, Coway continues to advance its health and safety culture.

Health and Safety Strategy
Health and Safety Implementation Framework
Coway has set 'A company that prioritizes the health and safety of its employees' as its health and safety vision. Its mission is to create a safe and healthy working environment. Coway advances its health and safety management around five core values. While systematically identifying and eliminating potential hazards in advance, we ensure strict compliance with applicable statutory laws and regulations to foster a pleasant and safe workplace. Coway strengthens employee health and safety awareness through tailored training and exercises suited to each role and worksite. It has also taken proactive steps to sustain improvement activities through clear goal-setting and execution monitoring. We also actively share health and safety data and technical know-how with our partners to foster a corporate culture of mutual growth, driving sustainable advancement alongside all stakeholders.
Health and Safety Strategy
Health and Safety Goals
Coway places the lives and health of its workers as the top priority and operates its health and safety management framework with the goal of achieving 'Zero' severe workplace accidents. In 2025, Coway achieved this goal by recording zero serious accidents, and exceeded its targets in both the hazard rectification rate and the rate of reduction in occupational accidents.
As part of its mid- to long-term plan, Coway is taking proactive steps to prevent accidents at high-risk worksites through the introduction and expansion of AI-based safety management systems. We are also embedding a strong safety culture across the enterprise by strengthening worker-participatory risk assessments and field-driven continuous improvements. By successfully settling smart monitoring and data-driven management systems, Coway continuously mitigates hazards and fosters an autonomous OHS culture at each worksite, ultimately driving sustainable safety management.
Health and Safety Management Goals
Health and Safety Risk Management
Health and Safety Regulation Compliance Inspection
To systematically manage health and safety at its worksites, Coway strictly complies with relevant laws, including the Serious Accidents Punishment Act (SAPA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Act. Going beyond mere legal compliance, Coway fosters an environment where employees and suppliers' personnel can work with peace of mind through regular inspection and improvement of its company-wide safety and health management framework.
To fulfill the employer's safety obligations under the law, Coway conducts semi-annual inspections of the safety and health management framework at each site. These audits cover all operational areas—general, mechanical, electrical, chemical, and fire safety—identifying hazards and proactively breaking the chains that could lead to serious accidents. In 2025, based on these findings, Coway completed key rectification measures, including standardizing safety devices for production facilities, establishing tailored protocols for vulnerable lines, reinforcing safety guides, and installing roof-fall prevention systems. The results and compliance status are regularly reported to senior management as core inputs for company-wide safety policies.
Coway also operates a separate inspection framework for hazardous machinery and equipment under the Occupational Safety and Health Act. Focusing on equipment subject to protective measures, safety certification and self-regulation safety check reports, and statutory safety inspections, on-site supervisors conduct pre-work inspections by process line to verify compliance. When abnormalities are detected, Coway immediately suspends operation to maintain strict safety control.

Health and
Safety System
Health and safety regulations and procedures, mandatory legal training, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), risk assessments, partner management, Occupational Health and Safety Committee, etc.
On-site Inspection
General safety, mechanical safety, electrical safety, chemical safety, fire safety, etc.
Worksite Risk Assessment
To manage direct and indirect hazards that may arise across all areas of work, including production, service, research, and support, Coway conducts an annual risk assessment covering all processes. During the assessment, Coway systematically identifies hazardous and risk factors at the worksite and comprehensively reviews the likelihood of injury or illness and the severity of potential harm.
Based on the assessment outcomes, Coway formulates and implements hazard mitigation measures in order of priority, beginning with the highest-risk items, with each measure accompanied by targeted training to empower workers to identify and respond to workplace hazards firsthand. Furthermore, we conduct ad-hoc risk assessments to proactively respond whenever new hazards are anticipated, such as during the installation or modification of structures, the introduction or alteration of machinery, equipment, or raw materials, and in response to occupational accidents.
Key Outcomes of the 2025 Risk Assessment
Accident Response Process
Coway has established an accident response process to ensure that, immediately upon the occurrence of a health and safety accident, the situation is accurately identified and systematic follow-up measures are taken. In the cause investigation stage, the health and safety manager and the supervisor of the relevant department visit the site in person to verify the facts, and the department where the accident occurred establishes and implements recurrence prevention measures based on those findings. For serious accidents, Coway has a system in place to immediately report to management, while sharing accident cases with all employees to raise company-wide safety awareness.

Health and Safety Activities
Health and Safety Training
To raise health and safety awareness and capabilities among its employees, Coway regularly conducts training programs tailored to job categories and roles. Anchored by routine safety training mandatory for all employees, the curriculum features specialized modules including supervisor training to strengthen on-site safety management oversight, onboarding safety training for new hires, and technical competency-building courses for dedicated OHS personnel. Furthermore, specialized safety training is seamlessly extended to dependent self-employed workers, and Coway reinforces on-site incident prevention dynamics through the company-wide distribution of One-Page Sheets (OPS)¹⁾.

Emergency Response Training
Coway has predefined scenarios and employee role assignments for each type of emergency, and has established an initial response framework through the formation of In-house Emergency Response Teams (ERTs) across respective divisions and the operation of an emergency contact network. Coway conducts training at least once a year to prepare against facility safety accidents, fires, and chemical spills, and periodically verifies whether responses can be carried out as planned in actual situations.
Employee Wellness
Employee Wellness and Preventive Health Programs
To promote the physical and mental health of its employees, Coway operates an in-house occupational health clinic and dedicated Health Care Zones, providing tailored support for the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders. Each business site is equipped with a Health Care Zone with self-service blood pressure monitors and stretching tools, enabling employees to manage their health on a daily basis. For field workers, Coway has introduced customized hearing protection equipment and improved the slip-resistance of safety shoes to enhance the safety of the workplace environment.
To support emotional health management, Coway runs a counseling room to help relieve job stress and provide psychological stability, and has developed and implemented a dedicated response manual for employees engaged in emotional labor. Annual general health screenings are comprehensively conducted for all employees, and specialized occupational health screenings are seamlessly provided to personnel exposed to higher job-related hazards. Coway systematically analyzes these screening outcomes, linking the data to tailored follow-up management programs to foster proactive disease prevention and long-term workforce health promotion.
Spreading a Safety Culture at Manufacturing Sites
To fundamentally eliminate potential risks at its manufacturing sites, Coway runs a "Safety CFT (Cross-Functional Team)" composed of experts from relevant departments. Through this activity, Coway has developed common safety standards for key equipment such as industrial robots and conveyors, and is committed to identifying and addressing every hazard on the worksite.
Through this cross-departmental collaboration framework, Coway is reinforcing safety devices from the equipment design stage through operation. Coway has advanced these activities beyond simple environmental improvements. As a result, the value of 'Safety First' is firmly embedded among on-site employees. In doing so, Coway eliminates the potential for serious accidents at the source and is building a smart factory environment in which an autonomous safety culture is firmly established.

Safety CFT Activities at Manufacturing Sites
Service Manager Health Promotion Program
To protect the health of its on-site service managers, Coway carries out activities to prevent musculoskeletal disorders and chronic lifestyle diseases. Coway has placed "Health and Safety Supporters" at each branch nationwide to regularly conduct stretching activities, and runs the "8,000 Steps a Day Walking Challenge" to support the health management of high-risk groups for conditions such as hypertension and hyperlipidemia.
Coway also creates and distributes "health and safety short-form content" optimized for mobile environments, helping employees learn essential safety rules anytime, anywhere. Driven by these field-centric preventive activities, the occupational accident rate across service sites decreased significantly year-over-year in 2025. Coway plans to continue strengthening its health and safety management framework to build an even healthier and safer working environment.

Partner Health and Safety Management
Council for Occupational Safety and Health
Coway operates a Health and Safety Council with its in-house partners to share health and safety information and gather field-level feedback. Each quarter, joint inspections of work processes are conducted with the business owners and workers of partners to identify on-site hazards—such as securing dedicated forklift travel routes and upgrading emergency exits and workplace lighting—and to implement targeted corrective measures. Through these efforts, Coway works to prevent occupational accidents and create a safe working environment across all business sites, including those of its partners.

Safety Risk Assessment
Coway conducts regular risk assessments for its in-house partners to proactively identify and address potential on-site hazards. To address specific hazards identified through these assessments—such as falls, collisions, and fires—Coway executes concrete corrective measures, including repairing uneven flooring to eliminate trip hazards, expanding safety signage, and substituting products containing hazardous substances.
Health and Safety Capability Assessment for Qualified Partners
To strengthen health and safety management across its supply chain, Coway mandatorily evaluates OHS factors starting from the initial partner registration stage and conducts re-registration assessments for existing partners every two years. The results of these assessments are linked to overall partner revaluation KPIs, leading to substantive management actions. In 2025, Coway completed regular assessments for 31 partners. New partners failing to meet the qualification criteria are restricted from registration, while existing partners with non-conformities are provided with targeted corrective action guidelines and monitored for compliance, ensuring that assessment results translate into a highly effective OHS management framework.
